Aberdeen City Council is committed to improving homes for all goodapple homes tenants to make sure that all properties meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard by 2015. We have a large modernisation and improvement programme underway across the city. Improvements include installing and improving kitchens and bathrooms, heating systems, windows and doors.
We need to find out how we can improve the service we give to tenants. This is so we can continue to provide good quality affordable homes that are fit for purpose and meet the needs and expectations of our customers.
At present, information about modernisation and improvements is provided to tenants approximately 14 weeks before the work starts. However, the Asset Policy (Housing) Team and the Tenant Participation Officers are working together to try and find a way that this information can be provided to tenants at an earlier stage.
We would also like to know how useful the information we send out is. You can influence the way we communicate this service by completing and returning the Survey on Consultation questionnaire and telling us your views.
During 2006/07 the following home improvements were made:
In 2006/07 more than 1,000 homes had their kitchens and bathrooms modernised. In 2007/08 around 1,500 homes will have kitchen and bathroom modernisations carried out. We have a purpose-built kitchen and bathroom showroom in our Spring Garden offices to allow you to select your fixtures and fittings. We understand that the modernisation process can be a stressful time so we have a dedicated team of staff to help you through the process and minimise any upheaval.
